Meet Your Coach
Curren Trusty
Hi, I'm Curren Trusty, a self-care coach, therapist*, and the founder of Self Care Worthy. As a busy mom of young children, I know how easy it is to neglect your own well-being while taking care of others. But I also know that taking care of yourself is essential for a happy and fulfilling life.
My approach to coaching is client-centered and holistic. I believe that self-care is not just about bubble baths and massages, but about taking care of your mind, body, and soul. As your coach, I'll help you identify your unique needs and create a personalized self-care plan that fits your lifestyle.
My coaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that self-care is not a luxury, but a necessity. I believe that everyone deserves to prioritize their well-being, even if we've been taught by our families or conditioned by our surroundings to neglect it. Through my coaching, I aim to empower individuals to take ownership of their self-care journey and to become their own self-care advocate.
Education & Training
While my own self-care journey has inspired me to help others, I have also been formally trained as a coach. I received my coaching training through the Executive and Professional Coaching graduate program at the University of Texas at Dallas. I am an ACC certified coach through the world’s largest professional coaching organization, the International Coach Federation (ICF). ICF credentials maintain the highest standards in the coaching industry and are awarded to professional coaches who have met stringent education and experience requirements. Having an ICF credential indicates that I have received rigorous training as a coach, which included supervision, have passed coaching assessments and exams, and have demonstrated mastery of the core competencies of coaching.
Thank you for considering me as your self-care coach, and I can't wait to help you prioritize your well-being!
My Approach to Coaching
I partner with my clients to maximize their self-care potential now and in the future. In this process, I use powerful questions to draw insight from clients.
Because this process is dynamic, my coaching questions are not scripted. You set the agenda and aims for each coaching session and I tailor questions to help you reach them. We don't really spend a lot of time discussing the past, we focus on where you are now in your self-care journey, what you want to be different, and how you'll get there.
As a coach, it's my role to ask questions. I do not provide answers or solutions because I firmly believe in your ability to generate your own answers. You are the expert of your life and no one is better positioned to find the best solutions for your life than you.
By you doing all this, the process is far more beneficial and effective. Ultimately, coaching is all about you. I am just here as a facilitator to help you unlock and clarify your own answers and to hold you accountable for those things that you decide are worth doing.
My Coaching Philosophy
I think you're capable of reaching the goals you desire and have the skills to do it...even before I meet you. That's because I believe coaching is a partnership of equals. What I mean by that is you are the expert of your life and I recognize you are already equipped with the knowledge and expertise to create the best solutions for your self-care.
So why do you even need me? The truth is you don't. You can accomplish everything you achieve in a coaching session on your own. However, having someone to facilitate this process of change can make things happen faster and keep you on track. And that's my role. I help you to unlock your own answers by using my coaching expertise and employing coaching methods that are supported by research as effective. I also hold you accountable for progress towards the goals you identify as important.
Additionally, I operate from a wellness perspective as opposed to a dysfunction perspective. I acknowledge your strengths and help you to leverage them to bring the change you are seeking into your life. I also work with you to identify, recognize, and amplify the things that are going well in your life as opposed to making the focus about what is going wrong. We don't spend much time on the past. We focus on what's happening in the present and what steps you can take now to bring the future you desire into fruition.
